Dr. Wee

As part of the Dr. Wee project, the Institute for Cardiovascular Computer-Assisted Medicine is developing an innovative diaper insert for simple and hygienic urine collection in newborns.
The specially designed insert reliably collects small amounts of urine. The collected urine can then be analyzed using a simple rapid test. This allows important health parameters to be assessed quickly and without invasive procedures.
Dr. Wee’s primary application is to support home phototherapy for neonatal jaundice. In this treatment, newborns undergo therapy at home under medical supervision. Dr. Wee is designed to help monitor the children’s health more easily and to ease the burden on parents and medical staff in their daily routines.
