AI-Based Systems Medicine for the Early Detection of Cardiometabolic Risks

Dr. Marcus Kelm (https://icm.dhzc.charite.de/angewandte-systemmedizin/ ) presented his research at the 2026 ESC Congress in Munich on cardiometabolic risk profiles and associated AI-based early detection options for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) many years before the onset of clinical symptoms. He also demonstrated systems medicine approaches for the future integration of complex molecular profiles such as the lipidome. (https://doi.org/10.1093/ejhf/xuag238) Both studies were published in the European Journal of Heart Failure as part of the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 1470 and were made possible by the close collaboration between clinical practice, basic science, and data science at the DHZC, MDC, and BIH (https://sfb1470.charite.de/).
